AudioTale

Read it, hear it, focus on it

Coming soon

Turn any PDF or EPUB into a book worth reading

A PDF is a picture of a page, not a book. AudioTale reads the structure back out of it — headings, paragraphs, footnotes, the pull quotes, the covers and indexes worth skipping — and rebuilds it as something you can actually read on a phone. Then it lets you choose how.

What it does

What it will do.

  • Bring your own files

Any PDF or EPUB you already own. Import runs in the background and picks up where it left off if you close the app.

  • Structure, not just text

Headings stay headings, footnotes stay footnotes, pull quotes stay pull quotes. Covers, indexes and back matter are left out of your way.

  • Read

A reflowed, properly typeset page built for a screen you hold — not a zoomed-in scan of A4.

  • Listen

A narrated audiobook made from your own file. Speed from 0.75x to 2x, skip forward and back, and a sleep timer for the end of the night.

  • Focus

One word at a time at a pace you set, aligned on the focal letter, with the pauses punctuation asks for. For the days reading will not stick.

  • Keep the lines that land

Highlight a sentence as you go, or type in an excerpt you want to keep, and find your quotes again later.

  • Say what you thought

Rate a book when you finish it and write down why, so the next reread starts with your own verdict.

  • One place, one position

A library that knows what you are partway through and what you finished. Your place carries between reading and listening, and across iPhone, iPad and Android.

Three ways through a book

The same page, the same place in it, three ways to take it in.

Switch mid-chapter and you pick up exactly where you left off. These are drawings of the interface, not screenshots — the app is still being built.

Where your data lives

No mystery about it.

AudioTale works differently from our other apps: you sign in with Apple or Google, and the files you import are rebuilt into books on our own servers rather than on your phone. That is what lets your library and your place in it follow you between devices. The full policy is published below and takes effect when the app ships.
